Lesson from my mother’s office

I saw this quote posted on one of the cabinets in my Mothers office today.

“To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy, is to set our own conditions to the events of each day.  To do this is to condition circumstances, instead of being conditioned by them.”  – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Remember…We may not be able to control our circumstances, but we can ALWAYS control how we respond to them.

Thanks for the reminder today Mom 🙂

Never stop working, stretching, and striving

My wife and I were talking this week and she mentioned something to me that hit me and related so well to the topic of consistency that I have been thinking about this week.

Now I may not get her words down perfectly, but she said something to effect of “you have to keep trying, the moment you give up and stop trying is the moment let the other person win”

Her words are so true.  Life is all about working  and never giving up.  We have to keep trying and keep striving for what we want and for who we want to be.  Even when things get tough…we have to keep trying.  When we make a mistake, or fall back into old ways…we have to keep trying.  It is in these moments that we define who we are.

Thanks for the wise words babe.

Another quote on consistency

going to keep it simple today and just share a quote on consistency…hope you enjoy it!

“Daily, consistent, focused, faithful expectation raises the miracle power of achieving your dreams.”  -John Di Lemme

What I have learned about consistency?

I started a new job a few weeks ago and have been focusing all of my efforts on getting situated and familiar with all the new products, features, and responsibilities.  As I have done this…I have noticed that other areas of my life have been taking a back seat.

As I have focused on figuring out my new job, I have noticed that my positive attitude, focus, and positive outlook on life has been impacted. I am not saying that I have become a negative person, but I have noticed a difference in my overall positive attitude and the energy that I usually approach life.

As I was thinking about this today, I came across this quote that I feel lines up perfectly to what I am experiencing.

I have built my positive outlook by being persistent AND consistent.  The name of my blog is Choose your PACE – which stands for Positive Attitude Changes Everything.  If I am not consistently working on this…then I will lose this focus.  Makes total sense!!!

The great thing about this quote and this principle in general is that if I want to increase my positive attitude and outlook, or change anything else in my life,  I need to be persistent AND consistent at doing the things that will help me have this positive outlook and focus.

One of the first steps…Start posting again 🙂

What do you think?  How does this quote apply to you?

What are the benefits of new beginnings?

down-new-paths

My first day at my new career was yesterday.  I think the fact that I woke up at 3:30 AM to catch my flight had a play in some of the emotions I felt yesterday (sleep deprivation, heavy eye syndrome, etc).  I also noticed feeling excited, nervous, uncertain, and blessed.  It was a lot to take in!!!

As I woke up this morning I noticed that I again felt a peace and excitement for this opportunity. Today I am grateful for new beginnings, because these new beginnings stretch me, push me, and assist me in being the person I truly want to be.

Family…it is what life is all about

I try to keep my Saturday’s and Sunday’s as the days I devote to my family.  They are the center of my world and the reason why I do everything I do.

As I spend my last day with my family before a big new adventure, I have been thinking how important family is in the grand scheme of life.  We spend so much time at work, pursuing education, an other amazing and worthwhile activities…but at the end of the day…what do we do it for?  For me…it is for my family!

I hope everyone has a great day and simply enjoys their family, whatever that looks like.

Do you love what you do???

As I get ready to start a new opportunity in a few weeks, I have found myslef looking at the lessons learned and the growth that I have expereinced over the last few years.  It has been rewarding to see where I am today compared to where I was a few years ago.

I came across this quote from Steve Jobs that illustrates how I am feeling about this new opportunity.  This quote is applicable in so many ways, and one of my goals is to live my life in this manner.

The question to think about over the weekend:  Do you love what you do?  For me this new opportunity will allow me to do what I love to do…hope you do as well 🙂

What to do with new opportunities?

I was presented with a opportunity today and of course it has been on my mind all morning.  As I was getting situated at work for the day I came across the quote below from Richard Branson

Richard Branson

The lesson for me from this quote…Life is going to give you opportunities, and they have the potential to push and stretch you beyond what you feel you are capable of.  But, if you never take these opportunities…you will never know what you are truly capable of.

What opportunities have you been offered lately?  What would happen if you said YES to them?

It it going to be a great week…full of opportunities 🙂

Where are the answers????

I have shared some thoughts around this idea before, but over the last week I have had the opportunity to experience this idea/principle again as I work to answer some of my own questions.  I am interested in getting your thoughts around this idea

The answers to all questions lie within

What do you think?  How does this question resonate with you?

“A high conscious person does not enter into any relationship thinking that he/she has the answers for the other person.  This idea would put the power of the relationship in the wrong hands.  The wisdom of the ages is accessible to everyone, and yet, few know how to access this information.” – unconventional wisdom.

We are all perfect…just the way we are

This week I am studying the following principle:  “Each one of us is a perfect, unique, energy force.”

We live in a world full of Judgement and comparison.  It seems that a lot of us are not happy or content until we reach a certain income, look a certain way, or achieve a certain status.  This principle allows us to let go of all the judgments and comparing and simple LIVE according to our definition of perfection.  The quote below really drives this idea/principle home for me.

“Remembering our true state is perfect, regardless of what we think, say or do, releases self-condemnation and frees us up to really live.  Great [People] love themselves and their clients unconditionally.  We are never afraid to let our light shine, as we know that this is a beacon for others to embrace.  Remember, the definition of perfection is unique, unto itself.  Relax, You’re already perfect!” – Unconventional Wisdom
