Too Busy?

I have been thinking a lot about this question over the last few weeks.  I realized something again this morning…

“Too busy” is a myth.  People make time for the things that are important to them.

I get so much satisfaction and joy from sharing these thoughts and quotes with each of you, and if it is really that important to me…then I will make time each day to share.

Would love to hear your thoughts on how the words “Too busy” hold you back from doing the things that are most important to you

Do you have destination addiction?

My family and I are going through another major life change right now, and I have found myself dreaming about what life is going to be like in a month, once everything is settled down.  I came across this quote last night that really hit me.

“Beware of destination addiction:  The idea that happiness is in the next place, the next job, or even with the next partner.  Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are.” – Anonymous

This quote reminded me that in addition to being able to choose how I respond to things, I also have the ability to choose to be happy.  I am going to focus on being happy where I am, and enjoy each and every moment.

Have a great day…and enjoy being happy where you are!

Believe

There are some mornings when you feel the need to have a little pick me up to get your day started. Today was one of those mornings for me.

This quote did it for me…and I hope it has the same impact on you.  Here’s to a great day and a great week!

Do we focus on what is missing in our lives, or all the wonderful blessings?

We are trying to sell our home right now.  The process has allowed me to build more patience and faith.  I was thinking about being away from my family this morning, and I found this quote.  It reminded me just how blessed I am in my life.

“When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives, but are grateful for the abundance that’s present…we experience heaven on earth.” – Sarah Breathnach

How often do we focus on the things that we don’t have, or the things that are missing in our lives, and forget to recognize ALL the wonderful blessings that we have?

I am going to continue to focus on recognizing all the abundance in my life…how about you?

Want meaning in your life?

I have seen this quote play out so many times in my life.

The way you get meaning into your life
is to devote yourself to loving others,
devote yourself to your community around you,
and devote yourself to creating something
that gives you purpose and meaning.  – Mitch Albom

What are the Benefits of Patience?

I came across this quote this morning.  It is another great quote about the benefits of developing and having patience.

“Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success.” ~ Brian Adams

What has developing patience done for you?  I would love to hear your thoughts.

Have the strength to be whoever you want to be

It’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be.  You can change or stay the same; there are no rules to this thing.  And I hope you see things that startle you.  I hope you see things you never felt before.  I hope you meet people with different point of view.  I hope you live a life you’re proud of.  If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.” – F.Scott Fitzgerald

I had an amazing experience yesterday and this quote totally explains some of the feelings and emotions I experienced.  It confirmed to me again that when we have the strength to follow our dreams and be who we want to be…miracles happen.

Follow your heart and intuition

I believe I have shared this quote before, but it hit me again this morning, and I wanted to share it again.  This is a great reminder to follow your heart.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs

What comes out when life squeezes you?

orange

This story hit me like a ton of bricks this morning.  I have never thought of anger, frustration, fear this way before.

Lesson from Dr. Wayne Dyer

In the last few years Wayne used to always bring an orange on stage as a prop for the following story.

I opened a conversation with a bright young fellow of about twelve who was sitting in the front row.

“If I were to squeeze this orange as hard as I could, what would come out?” I asked him.

He looked at me like I was a little crazy and said, “Juice, of course.”

“Do you think apple juice could come out of it?”

“No!” he laughed.

“What about grapefruit juice?”

“No!”

“What would come out of it?”

“Orange juice, of course.”

“Why? Why when you squeeze an orange does orange juice come out?”

He may have been getting a little exasperated with me at this point.

“Well, it’s an orange and that’s what’s inside.”

I nodded. “Let’s assume that this orange isn’t an orange, but it’s you. And someone squeezes you, puts pressure on you, says something you don’t like, offends you. And out of you comes anger, hatred, bitterness, fear. Why? The answer, as our young friend has told us, is because that’s what’s inside.”

It’s one of the great lessons of life. What comes out when life squeezes you? When someone hurts or offends you? If anger, pain and fear come out of you, it’s because that’s what’s inside. It doesn’t matter who does the squeezing—your mother, your brother, your children, your boss, the government. If someone says something about you that you don’t like, what comes out of you is what’s inside. And what’s inside is up to you, it’s your choice.

When someone puts the pressure on you and out of you comes anything other than love, it’s because that’s what you’ve allowed to be inside. Once you take away all those negative things you don’t want in your life and replace them with love, you’ll find yourself living a highly functioning life.

Thanks, my young friend, and here’s an orange for you!

Challenge your limits

Don’t Limit Your Challenges… Challenge Your Limits.“- Anonymous

Life seems to give us opportunities to test this quote on a daily basis.  How often do we focus on trying to limit the challenges that we are presented with?  I know I do this on a regular basis.

I also notice that when I challenge my limits, face the challenges that are presented to me, and focus on learning and growing…I always come out a better person, with more confidence in challenging my limits going forward.

How about you?
